Watched Bee Season last night. Didn’t finished it though… The DVD wasn’t exactly of supreme quality. Was interested by the young man who played Aaron, Max Minghella. Recognised the name.. you know, Anthony Minghella. And turned out he is indeed Anthony’s son. Funny thing is, Max says nobody recognises him at campus, back in Columbia, NY.
Did a lot of housework today. Man, the laundry. I did the stupidest thing and threw my black cardigan in the last minutes into the bucket which had two of my best white shirts. In the end, I had to run out, not washed yet, barely groomed to buy a whitener liquid. Thank God, it worked. I can barely afford to buy a new shirt these days, not to mention two.
Read an interview with Brendon Urie, vocalist of Panic! At The Disco, just now. Good to know that he is as clueless as I am when it comes to musical genre. Interesting fact: He was not originally set up to be the band’s vocalist. It was supposed to be the band’s guitarist, Ryan Ross - but they all happened to hear him singing during a rehearsal and was really impressed by his vocal abilities. And man, he can play a whole of a lot of instruments.
Finally found out the name of Keane’s keyboardist: Tim Oxley-Rice. Hahaha, been having the hots for him and knowing nothing about him, not even his name.
Man, don’t you hate people who talk so loudly on their cell-phone in public places. This man sitting right next to me is doing just that. Man, what I’d give to hammer him in the head with an empty Coke bottle.
I’ve run out of books to read. Ms Endang, please come back!!! Gave up last Friday and bought myself a "Paman Gober". It was worth every cent of it, though.
Jeez, let me kill him!!! Shut up, will you. There’s one of my students nearby so I have to keep my cool. Otherwise, Mister…
Anyway, living close to where you work and especially if you work in a school can turn you into an instant celebrity. Normally I would watch for faces I know so I wouldn’t unknowingly ignore them, which I do a lot. But as it turns out, even non-ILP students know about us. I was lounging at the back of this bus, trying to get myself together since I had just woken up - and I heard a little girl who just got out telling a friend of hers, "That’s an ILP teacher, don’t you know?"
I switched this term. No longer so tipped over to Tuesday-Thursday classes. Surprisingly the 3 o’clock class is great. They’re usually Jr HiSchool students, these 3 o’clockers and they are understandably tired at such hours - which make them rather boring to a teacher. I mean, man, you can barely get a Yes or No from them. But this one is full with energy and very good-natured.
But the 5 o’clock… GOD. I thought my former FCE class was a tough job. You know, what with the material being Sahara-desert dry and the guys seemingly uptight and economical with words. Turned out they were great if you stirred them up the right way. But this one… Jeez. I got them to talk about themselves last Friday and it was better, thank God.
Monday-Wednesday isn’t so bad. The 3 o’clock class is packed with still very young students for YAC levels and they’re on time, eager and very cooperative. I’ve been dreading the 5 o’clock one since I taught them at the beginning of the year - undisciplined, preoccupied and disrespectful.
I got pretty work up over the thought of teaching them that I made a resolution. I should just let it go, take it easy and hope for the best, see what’d happen. And what do you know, they are just fine. The "worst" of them are still there but greatly changed. Sometimes, when you fear the worst, you’re just scaring yourself.
Out of curiosity, I clicked on this site promoted by Friendster and got a few good laughs. You should treat yourself to some laughs, too - click here. My fave is the one about procrastinators - it simply hit home.
Also out of curiosity, I clicked my way to a page talking about Johnny Depp. They put up one of his quote, which I think is very profound, deep and utterly him.
"The only gossip I’m interested in is things from the Weekly World News
– ‘Woman’s bra bursts, 11 injured’. That kind of thing." -Johnny Depp.
One man you can always rely on.
